RESCUE:Arf's German Shepherd Rescue, Inc.
BREED: German Shepherd

Breed Description:

German Shepherds come in all-black, all-white, sable, black-and-tan, black-and-red, and black-and-silver. Coats can be long or short. Males average 26" high and 75-100 lbs; females slightly smaller. In a shelter envmt. GSDs become "mouthy" : this is their attempt to gain control when they're stressed. Negative shelter behaviors usually disappear after a week of foster home care. GSDs are frequently confused with Australian Cattle Dogs (smaller and brindle colored or spotted) and Belgian Malinois (no black saddle). Please contact us if you need help identifying a possible GSD at your shelter.

Details about "DO YOU ACCEPT" responses:

Medical conditions/special needs cases accepted on a case by cases basis depending on room, time, and funds available.

OWNER-SURRENDERS ARE LAST ON OUR PRIORITY LIST because their dog already has a home. Rescue can't save the WHOLE world; owners need to show responsibility by placing the dog themselves or hanging onto the dog until we can find it a home. Our website has a downloadable form to help them with this process.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:
