Breed Description:
The average GSD weighs 65-75 pounds for a female. Male GSDs are 70-85 pounds. Most GSDs have erect ears, although some purebred shepherds have what is call 'soft ears'. Colors; All black, all white, black and tan,black and red, black and silver, sable. They can have a short or a long coat.

Due to the shortage of foster homes we are reluctant to take in the older dogs as they are more difficult to place.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:
We do have a few foster homes, which is great for the dogs and socializing them. We also have a kennel that can house up to 9 dogs. This is kept very comfortable for the dogs that are staying there.

Details about "PROCEDURES" responses:
When the dogs come into rescue, they are taken to the vet for a complete"physical" and shots. Any one that is interested in adopting a GSD must fill out an application. The references are checked, a home check is also done as is an 'interview' If accepted, we then match the new owners with a dog that we think would fit into their lifestyle. We do keep in touch with phone calls and a newsletter.
