RESCUE:Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue
BREED: Shih Tzu

Breed Description:

Shih Tzu come in a variety of colors and size. A purebred's average weight is between 9-16 lbs. Since a lot of dogs of a Shih Tzu mix come into shelters, sometimes it is very difficult to identify. The main features are a very short nose; big round eyes, small body with short furry legs, very soft hair with ears that hang down and a tail that curls up on their back. They require frequent grooming or they become badly matted quickly. Most Shih Tzu in the shelters will be very heavily matted. The photo shown is an example of a Shih Tzu that needed to be shaved down to get rid of the mats. A neglected dog with matted hair frequently has eye problems due to the hair in the eyes.

Details about "PROCEDURES" responses:

All Shih Tzu fostered are taken to a vet ASAP and fully vetted and treated. They are fully evaluated to find their preferences and temperament tested before being placed. We require a detailed application, call at least 3 references and do a home visit prior to placing. We rarely place in homes with children under the age of 8.

Rescue's policy regarding SHELTER FEES:

Our organization will pay shelter fees within reason and do make donations. Shelters and rescues both run on tight budgets and would hope that this would be taken into consideration.
