Breed Description:
Rat Terriers tend to be calmer and softer in temperament than similar working terriers. They are active, requiring daily excercise. They do best as house dogs in homes where people have the time to enjoy these lively dogs. RT's typically get along well with cats and other dogs, but their hunting background makes them unreliable around small birds and rodents.
Colors vary widely, and can include black, red, tan,
and blue, or any combination thereof, on a white background. Black and tans, as well as sabled dogs are common. Sizes range from under 10 pounds to 50 pounds.
