BREED: German Shorthaired Pointers

Breed Description:

German Shorthaired Pointers are a medium build, athletic, Highly Energetic and intelligent dog. They Require exercise! Males may Weigh from 40- 80 lbs, females from 40 - 65 lbs. Their coloration may vary from Solid Brown (liver) over the entire body, to Brown head markings and White body, both the predominantly brown dogs and the predominantly white dogs may include patches, ticking, and roan (looks grey) color patterns. In some instances you may see Black/white coloring in the same variations as Brown/white, no Tri colors are permitted. Tails are docked; varying tail lengths are accepted, sometimes you will see a dog with full tails, these are gsp's and will be accepted by rescue, when in doubt, please email a picture to info@gsprescuewi.com.

Mixes: usually no, unless look very Gsp like and space is available.
Medical conditions: Yes, including Heartworm positive dogs, and special needs dogs.
Bite Cases: we will evaluate the circumstances, but usually no.
No Aggressive Dogs will be accepted.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:

Gsp rescue dogs are housed in foster homes, all dogs are kept indoors, No outside placements are permitted for foster care. Each of the foster homes has experience with German Shorthaired pointers prior to fostering a rescue dog.

Details about "PROCEDURES" responses:

Each individual dog receives vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test, treatment(if necessary) and heartworm prevention, worming if necessary (fecal check), and any other medical care the rescue veterinarian recommends.

Rescue's policy regarding SHELTER FEES:

Yes, the rescue will pay shelter fees.Please call to verify anyone picking up a dog is authorized by Gsp Rescue of WI.
