Breed Description:
The Doberman is an energetic, watchful, determined, alert, fearless, loyal and obedient dog. They can be found in 4 colors - Black, Blue, Red and Fawn. They are a medium sized dog with a square appearance. Compactly built, muscular and powerful, for great endurance and speed.
The Doberman only does well as part of the family and living indoors. They make great jogging/walking buddies, as well as great cuddle-buddies. They are most content when they are with their owners doing the daily activities of the family.

Bite, special needs, and medical issue cases are reviewed on a case by case basis, call us with details to be considered. We will takes mixes as space allows, and will list mixes on our website as referrals.
We are 501(c)(3) pending.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:
All fosters are housed in private homes with experienced dobe owners. While in foster care, our dogs continue training, including socialization with other dogs, and are constantly assessed for proper placement in an adoptive home.

Details about "PROCEDURES" responses:
Our adoption application is available thru our website. All family members must be involved in the adoption process. Our dobes are adopted as part of the family and are kept as an inside dog only. We are committed to our dobes for the rest of their lives and if an adopter is unwilling or unable to care for the animal, we require that it be returned to us.
Worming done as needed, not on every dog. All dogs are microchipped prior to placement.
We appreciate notification when a dobe is at a shelter, we can place the dog's picture on our website, and/or send referrals whenever possible.

Rescue's policy regarding SHELTER FEES:
WDR will pay shelter fees if necessary. When required to pay a shelter fee, WDR appreciates the shelter having done any vetting for the dog (e.g. spay/neuter, vaccinations). Most often we have not had to pay to rescue a dobe in need.
