Breed Description:
Toy dog. Can be silky or wooly coat; may be floor length or in "puppy cut". Adult coat usually steel blue on back, dark tan/gold face/legs to all silver or blonde coat. Puppies are black and tan/gold. V-shaped ears erect or semi-erect. Docked tail, black nose, button or almond shaped deep brown to black eyes. Height varies from 4" - 16" at shoulders. Respectively, weight may vary from 2 lbs. to 20+ lbs.

Details about "DO YOU ACCEPT" responses:
Mixes to look predominantly Yorkie. Treatable medical conditions: liver shunt, diabetic, collapsing trachea, luxating patellas, bladder/kidney/gall stones, allergies. Special needs: physical disabilities, blind, deaf, kidney/liver/bladder disease. Only positive reinforcement training is used. Because our foster homes are multiple dog households we cannot risk accepting dog to dog aggressive dogs. DUE TO LIABILITY ISSUES WE CAN NOT ACCEPT BITE CASES.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:
Fosters introduced to each dog in foster home one on one on neutral territory, treated as member of family. Socialized to strangers/other dogs in/out of foster home.

Details about "PROCEDURES" responses:
Incomplete applications are invalid. In home visits are done with Yorkie. YORKIES RARELY PLACED IN HOMES WITH CHILDREN UNDER AGES OF 10-12 YRS. Exceptions made based on maturity of child. Adoption Agreement Contract specifically states: if unable to keep adoptive Yorkie, LEGALLY it MUST come back to our rescue. Adopters are advised to contact us regarding any/all questions/concerns. Adopters receive copies of available vet records, schedule of due dates of next required vaccine{s}. Follow-up communication made in one week; two weeks; every 4-6 weeks thereafter. Periodic visits indefinitely.

Rescue's policy regarding SHELTER FEES:
Shelter fees waived when Yorkie failed shelter's temperament testing. Our rescue is open to paying shelter fees for Yorkies having passed temperament testing.
