Breed Description:
The Japanese Chin is black and white or red and white. The red can range from a pale yellow to a dark brown. Some of the black and white dogs have tan points, similar to the tan markings on a Doberman's face. Chin faces are flat, similar to a Pekingese, but the legs are long and slender. The tail curves up over the back and the coat is usually long. There are almost always "feathers" on the front legs and similar long hair on the rear legs. The usual size range is 5 to 15 pounds although specimens larger or smaller are not unusual. An adult Chin is generally about as tall as a cat, but occasionally is taller or shorter. These dogs are generally quite friendly but may be reserved in an unfamiliar situation.

Details about "DO YOU ACCEPT" responses:
We take any purebred chin with no questions asked. In general we do not accept chin mixes unless they are in danger of being euthanized, so this is on a case-by-case basis.

DESCRIBE HOUSING USED FOR RESCUES:
Our dogs are kept in foster homes until they are ready to be placed in their permanent home. They are fostered as members of the family in the home, not in kennels.

Rescue's policy regarding SHELTER FEES:
We pay all required fees, whether a rescue fee or a shelter fee. We will also pay medical fees or shelter fees to any rescue group that has a chin to release to JCCARE. We do NOT pay individuals, pet shops or puppy mills.
